Back in the late 1800's and early 19th century, it was very commonplace for tourists and travelers to pick up a souvenir of their travels. Sterling "souvenir" spoons were quite popular and would be the equivalent of buying a souvenir magnet in today's tourist gift shops.
A very small number of these spoons were mounted with genuine 22 Karat Native Gold Nuggets. The spoons with gold nuggets were typically marketed in shops in Alaska and in Canada nearest to where gold mines existed.
Surprisiningly, the values of these spoons in todays' market are pretty affordable ranging from $65 to $150.00.
